One man doesn't make a team

Hi everyone,
Quite a bit going on today.
Starting with Suarez saga. It seems, no day can pass without a new twist to the story. The Guardian suggests, we're ready to offer £50 million for the Uruguayan. Astonishing really, especially if it's true. But I'll get back to it in a moment. The article goes on to say, that the player has held talks with Rodgers and they didn't go well, cause if they did, Liverpool would be boasting Suarez`s loyalty. I have to say, there is some logic to this argument.

What strikes me most, though, is our seeming willingness to spill so much cash on just one player. I get it, the manager thinks, Suarez is good. Better than Higuain. Hard to see, in which ways, but still, it's not Wenger's first day on the job. He has his reasons, I'm sure. I've already explained all my reservations, pertaining Suarez. But there's another problem. We don't have unlimited money. Assuming we make that £50 million offer and Liverpool accepts it, we'll only have £20 million left. And there's still business to take care of in other areas of the pitch. Suarez may be good, but he's only one man. He won't solve all of our problems just because he's that pricey and all hyped up. Even van Persie wasn't able to lift us to at least third place and he was out-of-this-world good. Even if Suarez is better (which I doubt), he's still just one player.
Yet we may be able to get some more money, before the transfer window closes. Gervinho continues to be linked to Roma, with Sky Sports Italia reporting, he's agreed personal terms with the club. If that's true (and it very much looks this way), it's down for the club to sort out a price. Assuming we play our hand smartly, that may well give us up to £10 million. Not so bad a price.
It'll leave us short in numbers, of course, but Wenger seems to be content to find internal solutions. He already said, Miyachi may well stay, to add something to the attack and now he's saying, Sagna is ready to fill in as a centre-back, while Vermaelen is out. As if that wasn't enough to scare the hell out of the fans, by preparing them for a signing-free summer, he was also quoted by Goal.com, saying the young players is where his focus lies. He refers to buying young talents, but it's hardly like they're going to jump straight into the action, immediately making us competitive. Sure, there are those players, but they are few and far between. Otherwise, they won't be considered «raw talents», rather rising stars and will come with a certain reputation and a hefty price tag.
Other than that, not much going on. Cazorla had paid his allegiance to the club, by saying he's happy in London and isn't going anywhere. By anywhere, he means Atletico. Frankly, I never believed, there was some truth to the rumors, but now they've been put to bed, I feel the need to report them, just to indicate, how many of these rumors are unfounded. Newspapers, it seems, will do anything for a story that'll sell, and do not bother to check, whether there's any truth to it. Ah, the wonders of mass-media.
Till tomorrow
