Goose bumps

Hi everyone,
Not much happening today, but there was a piece in the Daily Mirror I just couldn't ignore.
Arsene Wenger was interviewed by the newspaper and his comments made me very uneasy. There were several things that caught my eye.
Firstly, Suarez. Wenger said, he's in no hurry to buy the Liverpool man and that just brings to life the misgivings I wrote  about yesterday. This saga can last until the transfer window shuts, and Liverpool's unwillingness to sell the player is now coupled with Wenger's patience. He's just playing into their hands.
Then, there was the usual guff about the quality over quantity and how the market is spoiled. Sure, it is spoiled, and you don't need me or him to tell you that. With clubs, like PSG, Monaco, Man. City, Real spending big and raising salaries like hell (sometimes paying average players high salaries) it's hard to do business properly, but so what? This is the reality, and we have to learn to deal with it. Otherwise, we won't be successful. The players may not be worth so much money, but if you don't give it to them, they'll find somebody, who will. After you've missed out on someone in such a way, you can bemoan the situation all you like. Wenger may be right a thousand times about the player actual worth. He may say the other club's, or player's demands are absurd and walk away. But Arsenal FC won't get anything out of it. Our sense of self-righteousness won't win us trophies. Ultimately, it's us, who don't get anything out of these situations.
And the last bit, the scariest one. The manager said, we aren't close to signing anybody at the moment. What makes it scary, is the fact, that the he most likely means it. I would very much like to believe, that there's some kind of secret plan to solve our problems in style and come out victorious. That all of this talk is a smokescreen, while Arsenal make signings covertly, wrapping up deals in no time and for the right money, but experience tells me otherwise. When the manager says these things, he usually means them. If he says, we aren't close to buying anyone, that's because we aren't. Which, giving how things stand, is scary. He says that, even without new faces, we can challenge for the title. That's a lie. Plain and simple. We need to look no further, than this season's league table, to know that. And, given how Tottenham craves to overthrow us, and is actually doing something, to make it happen, we can find ourselves in a worse position, than a year ago.
They is still time to turn things around, of course, yet with every passing day it looks more unlikely. I don't even know, what to think. Why, having boasted our new-found resources we don't use them? Why have we let Higuain deal pass us by, when Real upped the price? Why aren't we looking at other areas of the pitch, content to find internal solutions?
I don't want this year to become the last year. Having lost a lot of nerves over our mistakes, I don't want to lose them again, when the skies seemed so much clearer with new sponsors, money and all that. Yet I can't get rid of the feeling, that we, incredulously, don't learn from our mistakes. Why this is so, I just don't know.
I'll try posting something in the evening, if anything of note pops up.
Until then
