Drawing to a close

Good evening everyone.
A busy week that was and I'm glad it's over. Due to the new term kicking into high gear I wasn't able to write much and that's a problem I'll have to solve next week. Not quite sure how, but I will. So check back often.
Not a lot going on these last few days, truth be told. The Interlull is doing it's job perfectly once again, depriving us of club-related stuff we're so used to. I did spend quite some time, gloating at Man Utd failure during transfer window. A lot of people blamed Arsenal FC for not being able to bring players in (something we proved wrong, courtesy to our great late transfer), but look at our rivals.
They have brought a youngster for a laughable fee and Fellaini for a ridiculous price of £30 million. An old pal did his trusty manager a favour and switched places. I guess, it's not as bad, as it would have, should we be only capable to buy Flamini, but ultimately United's campaign is a failure. An utter disaster.

Sure, they're the current title holders and may not have an acute need for new players, but it does look as if United's house of cards is coming down. While Ferguson was the boss, he could keep players happy (like Rooney and the Dutch Skunk) and bring in new (and prominent) ones, because he was world-famous.
Moyes, however, is not even remotely famous. He'll have to make a name for himself, solving problems he didn't have, while working at Everton. The scale of the fight has changed and United no longer have the upper hand. Players and coaches alike are discontent and quick to point out Moyes' incompetence (if I may) and this situation got me thinking.
Thinking about the role our manager plays in our system. Arsenal wasn't as successful as Man Utd for the last 8 years, but still we were able to convince Ozil to join us. And by "we" I mean Arsene Wenger. He made a call, talked some German, turned on his charm and voila - Ozil is a Gooner. The player himself said, his decision was mostly based on the manager's faith in him (and his ability to persuade).
Point is, our manager's name means something in this football world. The club isn't very successful, yes, we're not money bags, like PSG and Man City, yet we have a manager with a world-known reputation. And, interestingly, it was the decisive factor.
The scope of this deal is unbelievable. Someone compared it with Bergkamp transfer back in the day and this comparison might just fit the scale. Madrid fans tell their own story. It seems, they bemoan Ozil's departure much more, than they welcome Bale. The players aren't happy too, with even Ronaldo throwing his arrogance away and saying, he will miss Ozil greatly.
But why should we care, really? For a change, we don't bemoan a loss of valuable player at the end of the summer. Even more, we have brought a star, who will spark our game, help Cazorla share this burden. Some even say, Ozil arrival is the best thing, that could have happened to us, pointing to how lack of creativity was a problem more acute, than anyting else. Even the shortage of players. Give it a read, fascinating stuff.
Other than that, some more players will be targeted by Arsenal, when the window re-opens in January, but I had enough rumors this summer to last for a couple of seasons. Now, it's time to show, what we can do with the squad we have.
And for the first time in eight years, I think we can do some great things.
Until later
