Tick-tock

Good morning to you,
Not much going on, so it'll be a short one.
So, as you're well aware by now, Friday's draw pinned us against Fenerbahce and that worries me. The runners-up in their domestic league are no pushovers. They may well be the hardest opposition for us, but hey, we're always lucky, when it comes to the draw. Just remember Udinese two years back. The manager himself acknowledged the class of the Turkish side, before stating, we can pull it off even with the squad we have. I, personally, still have Galatasaray defeat in mind to think clearly. I'd very much like to share this belief, but things are never easy with Arsenal. Fingers crossed, we'll be primed and ready for this one.
In other news, Chamakh has departed for Crystal Palace on Sunday (I think) and it's a permament move. It was a free transfer, but at least we've got him off the books and no longer have to pay his wages. Back in 2010, Chamakh seemed a decent signing and was actually worth his salt for half-a-year or so. The Dutch Skunk was injured and Marouane was our best option. Though his technical limitations were obvious even then, he still managed to have a good spell and contributed a lot. Then, van Persie returned, and Chamakh became second-in-command. After finding himself only a bench substitute, he never did anything of note, needless to say, never being as good as the money we paid him. So good luck to him in Crystal Palace, he may still be able to find some of his old form, though it seems unlikely.
The players, who he left behind, however, worry me more. Most of our first team squad is gone for a round of meaningless friendlies, which will take place tomorrow evening. Let's hope the can get through unscathed, though we do already have a problem. Ramsey injured his ankle and thus, won't be playing for Wales. This injury is most untimely for the national team, but it's the position of the club, he's playing for, that worries me. He's been integral to our team, a regular starter, and kicking off against Villa without him lowers our chances to grab all three points. Fingers crossed, his injury is not serious and his absence from Wales squad is just a precaution.
And, finally, there's mounting talk of Luiz Gustavo's move to us, with the player himself admitting his interest, but it all seems a bit too obvious. Too simple. We don't buy players like that. We enjoy a prolonged saga or an unknown 16-year-old from France. So, until this deal (or at least, bid) is confirmed by the manager, I won't hold my breath. And, as the season is looming ever closer, I don't know, what it'll take to sign someone before the first game (which is only 5 days away). Though the squad we have is better, than that of last season, due to understanding blossoming between our players with every passing day, it's still far from the one, that' ll make us competitive.
With news still being scarce, I'll do my best to post something new more often, but if there's nothing for a day or two, there's nothing. When the season kicks off, we' ll plenty of news to stew on to.
Until later
