Loyalty

Hello,
Not much was going on for the last two days, but today a bomb dropped. A minor one. The one we could see coming. So it wasn't very scary. But still.
I'm talking, of course, about Suarez and his latest antics. To be completely honest with you, I'm up fed up with the whole situation. Regardless of how it all ends, it's going to be a huge relief, when it does. That being said, it's nice to see how things play out from the other side of the fence, for once.
I'm talking, of course, about the interview Suarez gave in the Guardian. A guy, who has put blame on newspapers and named the English press as one of the factors, that influenced his decision to change clubs, went public. So if there was any doubt, whether he wants to stay at Liverpool, there's none now.

In short, he reiterated his desire to leave, blamed the manager for not sticking to his words and tried to appeal to fans reason, saying all he wants, is to have some Champions League football. All of this, once again, clearly demonstrated, there's no such thing in football as devotion to your club.
I can understand, how Liverpool fans feel. It's much like our last year's problem with the Skunk Dutch. Bar the contract. Luis Suarez signed a brand new one just last summer, a shiny five-year deal. Now he says, he wants to go. The top goalscorer, one of key players, he was supported through mostly thin by everyone - from the fans to the manager (two of them, actually). Now he says, thanks for everything, but I want to become bitey in the Champions League. And goes to press.
For them, it's a nightmare of a situation. Their representative asks, quite publicly, what are we smoking at the Emirates, Rodgers denies, that a move will take place and suddenly, they find themselves with their backs to the wall. What should they do? Let him leave? But then, only Arsenal is interested in buying him. Real, after all, seems to cough up some cash for Bale and won't buy anyone after producing such an amount of money all in one payment. Definitely not someone Suarez-expensive. That leaves only one possible destination: the Emirates. And Arsenal will make the rules. If we want to pay more than £40 million to find an "amicable"resolution, we will. If we're not interested in producing more cash, we can stand firm, because they are now more interested in selling him, than we are in buying. Exactly this seems to be happening. Wenger has stopped making bids at £40m, due to a couple of reasons. He may well have been informed both of the clause and Suarez actions beforehand. As Suarez has made his position untenable, the boss is ready to wait, till Liverpool will come begging him to get the player off their hands. And that's when the mugmashers will have to play by our rules.
Of course, they may not do this. They may try to keep the player, both to save face and punish Suarez for his, frankly, appalling behavior. Rodgers have already made angry comments, concerning the behavior of the Uruguayan. Says, he's never promised Luis anything and that the player will be punished for his remarks. It can well be mind games, or it's an indication the club is willing to stand firm. God, I'm glad we don't have such a problem this summer.
I'll try posting more in the evening, if anything pops up. Until then
